Marcus Smart blocks Bruce Brown BOS vs BKN Dream11

BOS vs BKN Dream11: The Timberwolves downing Grizzlies mean that the Play-in teams enter with a better rhythm and the higher-ranked teams can be a bit off the steam considering their layoff. This is a dilemma I have had with the Play-in tournament, a team that enters on a high can notch upsets here and there, so what is the way out? Perhaps, that was also due to the high level of play by the Wolves but we noticed something like that last season too. Anyway, the Brooklyn Nets will also enter with the same momentum as they take on the Celtics.

Celtics pride themselves on the defensive end and they made a mockery out of even elite teams during the Regular Season. Their offense keeps on improving and there is no doubt that we can see them dominate the Playoffs if things click in this game. Let us see how the Celtics respond after six days off.

On the other hand, the Brooklyn Nets took care of business against the Cavaliers and by the virtue of that, they made it to the Playoffs. With the duo of Irving and Durant, they will be an imposing opponent even for the on-fire Celtics. Can the duo carry the hopes of the team forward again?

NBA Projections, Stats & Analysis

Celtics will have to be cautious

The Celtics have built a defensive identity and it will be put to test here in the Playoffs. The Nets have looked imposing with Durant and Irving, two scorers who can even give trouble to elite defenders. One other area where the Nets have seen huge improvement is the defensive end. Bruce Brown is playing the best basketball of his life, becoming a fluid all-position player, and credit belongs to the coaching staff led by Steve Nash that has surprised teams by inserting Brown in different positions. He will be busy here against the Celtics for sure.

The Celtics’ defense did take a hit when Robert Williams went down but veteran Al Horford has acted as a formidable help defender and upped both his rebounding and scoring to end the season. The offensive end for the Celts will largely hinge upon Tatum and Brown, the latter actually outscored Tatum and that has been a huge boost when Tatum hasn’t shot well. Still, I believe Tatum can do better with his shot selection. Marcus Smart can provide beautiful playmaking but the Celtics passing improved and Tatum, Brown, Horford, and White are all well-adept at moving the ball.

Andre Drummond will be tasked to keep Horford off the boards and this is something he has done at an amazing rate since the beginning of his career. Seth Curry has been a bit off offensively which is understandable considering he is playing alongside two ball-dominant players. The trouble for the Nets can be that if Tatum and Brown both take off and Smart shuts down Kyrie then they can be heavily outmatched. Meanwhile, the trouble for the Celtics will be that Kyrie and Durant both know how to score in multiple ways while Brown has taken advantage of the open lanes produced due to the presence of these two players.

Fantasy lineup related tips
For the Nets, choosing between Irving and Durant can be confusing but Durant has a lot more to offer than just scoring. On the other hand, the bigger confusion is when you have to choose between Brown and Tatum because you never know which player is in for a big night. On the other hand, Smart provides great playmaking and can also roll in some points for the Celtics. Horford is a great filler pick-up considering he is an all-around player while Theis provides a lot of value as another filler player. The same goes for Bruce Brown and Andre Drummond, whereas Seth Curry, Grant Williams, Derrick White, Goran Dragic, and Patty Mills are rather risky picks.
