With the preseason done and dusted, it’s time for real action. Two of the most dominant forces of the Eastern Conference, Boston Celtics and Philadelphia 76ers open their 2019-20 regular season campaign with a matchup against each other at Wells Fargo Center Philadelphia.
All the optimism and the talk of the potential tilt at the title following Celtics’ fast start to 2018-19 season was soon faded after the All-Star break as the Greens finished fourth in the East last season with a record of 49-33, well short of the target the team sat out for itself at the start of the campaign.
Even Kyrie Irving and Al Horford could save the 17-time champions against Milwaukee Bucks as Brad Stevens’ men fell flat in the conference finals against the immovable force in Giannis Antetokounmpo.
But there’s new hope, not just because it’s the new season, but the team management made some smart move in the offseason. Kyrie Irving may have left, as is Al Horford, but the Green signed Kemba Walker.
The former Charlotte Hornets star has been stacking up incredible numbers in the last few years, but will surely add potency to Celtics this season.
Philadelphia 76ers, meanwhile, are the odds-on favorites to win the coveted title this season, for the squad is stocked with players who can win the games on their own.
In Joel Embiid, the Sixers have the best two-way Centre in NBA, while Ben Simmons, Tobias Harris, and Al Horford bring their own threat to the opponents.
What competition it is? NBA Regular-season 2019-20
The match will be played between Philadelphia 76ers and Boston Celtics at Wells Fargo Center Philadelphia, in Philadelphia. The arena has a capacity of 19,500.
Match Day: October 24, 2019, @ 05:00 AM IST
