CLE vs DAL Dream11: NBA’s hefty schedule will come to end in a few weeks, and like any other season, this has been an up-and-down ride. This is a tricky league where you can have a team making a comeback being down by 25 points and there are times when you can’t judge which player will get hot and which will player will hit a cold shooting streak. This doesn’t mean that there can’t be a way to scrape out which players are consistent and which players are in a cold spell as per the trends. And just to do that, we jump into this game between the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Dallas Mavericks.

The Cavaliers have been struggling a bit since losing Jarrett Allen and their defensive rhythm has been a bit off since his departure. The Cavs are in danger of being relegated to the Play-in tournament after spending much of their time in the top-six rankings in the Eastern Conference.

On the other hand, the Dallas Mavericks have been doing a more than decent job of stacking up wins and they can be a handful to deal with for even elite teams during the Postseason. The Mavs’ defense has been one of the best this season and they will be looking to make a deep postseason run.

NBA Projections, Stats & Analysis

The Cavaliers defeated the Magic 107:101 as Darius Garland looped in 20+ points and 10+ assists and Lauri Markkanen posted 20 points.

The Cavs have been struggling against elite teams and their inability on being consistent on both ends has hurt them. Without Jarrett Allen, the team’s paint production has dropped, second-chance points have dwindled, and the biggest impact has been on the defensive end, which means that the team’s old defensive strength has been hit big-time. They have fallen from a fourth-sixth position team to a seventh-ranked team and this can be a problem since they can end up clashing against the Nets, a team that has Kyrie and Kevin.

This is why the upcoming stretch is crucial for the team as they will like to finish in the top six at least, which gives more rest and may also provide more time for Jarrett Allen to heal. One other issue has been Caris LeVert’s downward production and he has not had a huge impact on the offensive end for the Cavs. Lauri Markkanen has gotten it done a stretch-four but rookie Evan Mobley, who is a huge difference-maker on both ends of the floor will miss the game. Without Mobley, Kevin Love’s role will be huge.

The Mavericks defeated the Lakers 128:110 as Luka Doncic racked up 30 points or so and the team pulled through after building a huge first half

The Mavericks have been an elite team on the defensive end, especially on their home floor. They have shut down teams after teams in the second half of games and that ability will be huge once the Playoffs arrive. The Mavs have built a decent distance from the Jazz for the fourth spot in the West and they will most likely face one of the teams among the Jazz/Nuggets/Timberwolves, most likely Nuggets at this point. And with the way they play defense, they can be a problem for the Nuggets to deal with.

Luka Doncic has continued to provide depth to the team and his ability to be a constant scorer opens up opportunities for Reggie Bullock, Jalen Brunson, and Spencer Dinwiddie to be effective. Brunson’s production has gone down as not only he is playing with a ball-dominant player in Doncic but Dinwiddie also needs the ball a ton of his times to be effective. The main reason for the elite defense has been the strong frontline of Reggie Bullock, Dorian Finney-Smith, Maxi Kleber, and Dwight Powell.
