How the teams performed heading into this game?

Czech Republic:

An opening game 67-88 defeat at the hands of the reigning champions United States of America may feel like an inescapable fate, but the Czechs took control of their group stage fate in their own hands by winning their next two games.

The defeat to the USA was followed up by 89-76 and 91-76 wins over Japan and Turkey respectively.

The world no-24 side exceeded the expectations even further after getting the better of Brazil, a team which sits a dozen places above them on the current FIBA rankings, 93-71.

Greece:

For a team which boasts the best player on their roster, it has been quite an underwhelming campaign so far.

The 69-53 loss in the last game may be digested to the fact that it came against the USA, but the 79-78 loss against Brazil and close encounter against New Zealand raises questions about the players’ ethics in this competition.

The campaign is far from over though, for the World No-08 team as a win over the Czechs will be enough for them to claim the 2nd spot on the table.
