DAL vs ATL Dream11: NBA’s trade deadline is hovering around and surely, many teams will be pinned on making some moves to either better the roster or work around the luxury tax. Well, there are a lot of dynamics involved in the NBA marketplace, and in the hubbub of the league, we can forget that the adjustments for players have become tough with the Omicron threat and the social media explosion, which certainly impacts the mental health aspect. Anyway, more on that later, let us jump into this game between the Dallas Mavericks and the Atlanta Hawks.
The Mavericks have seven more wins than losses and after hovering around the 50% win mark till late December, the Luka Doncic led team has been sparkling. Despite the injuries to Tim Hardaway jr. and Kristaps Porzingis, coach Kidd has made adjustments that brought a winning result against a tough 76ers team and will love to keep going.
On the other hand, the Hawks have done a wonderful job since the mid-January period, taking advantage of the long home stretch. The team is still two games below the 50% win mark but if last season is any indicator, they can make a run as the postseason. Can the Trae Young led squad make a push from here on to get in the top-six rankings in the Eastern Conference?

Mavericks: Revved up core that values defense Mavericks’ defensive discipline has been impressive throughout the season and they have certainly garnered the status of an elite defensive unit. This is largely due to their gritty frontline that has played some incredible help defense and hustles hard on the floor. Jason Kidd, the coach has certainly laid out a defensive-minded agenda since the beginning of the season and for their recent gains, a lot of the impetus has been gained on the defensive end. Big Forwards Dorian Finney-Smith and Maxi Kleber have combined with both Dwight Powell and Kristaps Porzingis throughout the season to eke out quality defense.
On the offensive end, having an offensive threat like Luka Doncic helps out closing out games while keeping the outside shooting, inside scoring, and in-between game which helps the rest of the squad on the offensive end. Jalen Brunson helps out as the second ball-handler and his ability to scoop up mid-range shots give the Mavericks a much-needed dimension on the offensive end. Reggie Bullock has hit the mid-season form and his production is needed with both Porzingis and Tim Hardaway Jr. out. The Mavericks can finish the season with around 50 wins and during the Playoffs, their grind-out style can certainly serve them well. I think they should keep the current core and keep their defensive principles intact.
Hawks: Young-based offense, the road to Eastern Finals looks tougher Trae Young is the lifeline on the offensive end of the floor. His ability to hit long-range shots, get in the lane, and finish, along with a strong in-between game, enables the rest of his teammates to find open lanes to the hoop or click on jumpers from the perimeter. The Hawks have not been able to win at all when Young has been out and he can both push the pace and score early in the shot clock, while also being able to scrap quality offense in half-court situations. The team still will need much more from others to repeat as the Eastern Conference Finalists.
The team has a deep rotation when you think about it. John Collins and DeAndre Hunter at the Forward positions have been scoring at a more than a decent clip. Meanwhile, guard Bogdan Bogdanovic has improved his efficiency. On the other hand, Kevin Huerter and Danilo Gallinari may not be as regularly high-yielding as Young, Collins, or Hunter but they can have big nights every now and then. Clint Capela’s influence has decreased a bit and so have his minutes but he can get it together. Off the bench, Delon Wright and Onyeka Okongwu have left some impressions too. Overall, the team will face more challenges making a deep run compared to prior seasons, considering how squads like Heat and Bulls have grown while Celtics look in a decent touch lately.
