DAL vs GSW Dream11: As the NBA’s reach grows to the Indian subcontinent, we can see a lot of new fans being hauled in its carnival. It is a high-octane basketball league and surely, with the expanding fanbase, the reach of the league has grown considerably in the last ten years or so. With that in the bag, the NBA has become a highly profitable business model internationally and well, for me, it is a matter of earning a livelihood, yes, this is surely paying my bills, y’all! Anyway, to continue to the business model, let us jump into the Western Conference battle between the Dallas Mavericks and the Golden State Warriors.
The Mavericks have been playing high-quality basketball since the beginning of the year. They have garnered a bunch of wins mostly on the back of Luka Doncic and an elite defense, perhaps the most elite in the Western Conference as of now. As the Playoffs near, the Mavericks fans surely have their hopes raised.
On the other hand, the Warriors have lost four of their last five games and their recent window has been one of their worst. The manner of losses has been gruesome and we have seen the teams being blown out recently. They have been struggling on the defensive end these days and one thing is for sure due to the absence of Draymond Green.
Host: Dallas Mavericks Visitors: Golden State Warriors Match Timing: 4 March, @ 06:00 AM Venue: American Airlines Center
Make-up of the teams, match-ups, and evaluation The Warriors and the Mavericks played just a few days ago and the Mavericks covered a 20-point deficit and pulled off a great comeback win in the fourth quarter. This was not the first time that the Mavs played their best basketball in the fourth quarter as they also closed out the East’s best record-holder Heat in a brilliant second-half performance. The Warriors have had some trouble closing out games recently.
In terms of main-five, the Warriors are likely to field a three-guard lineup with Curry, Payton II, Thompson as the guards, and Wiggins as the wing with Looney clogging up the middle. On the other hand, the Mavericks are fielding a traditional two-guard, a wing, a big Forward, and a Center lineup these days with Doncic and Dinwiddie as two Point Guards, Bullock as the wing, Dorian Finney-Smith, and Powell as the Center.
For the Warriors, there is a lot of shooting at a display with Curry and Thompson while Wiggins can present match-up challenges with his ability to create shots. On the other hand, the Mavericks have a strong guard combo of Doncic and Brunson with Doncic being the leading scorer and Brunson being both a strong playmaker and shooter. Finney-Smith has raised his scoring recently, Bullock knocks important perimeter shots while Powell gets it done with minimal shot attempts.
Defensively, the Warriors have been weakened with Green out while Mavs have a stellar defensive anchor in Dorian Finney-Smith. Bullock, Brunson, Doncic, and Powell have also done their bit and while Curry, Thompson, Payton, Looney, and Wiggins are more than decent defensively, they have missed the presence of Green. These days the Mavericks have been surely a better defensive team.
In terms of the bench, the Mavericks have become stronger with Spencer Dinwiddie’s inclusion, someone who has been a productive isolation scorer and playmaker too. Maxi Kleber complements the frontline of the Mavs well with his ability to defend, box-out, and rebounding. The Warriors have a strong bench with Poole being an effective scorer while Porter Jr. has done well as the defender but the real edge in the frontline has been eked out by Jonathan Kuminga. Overall, the Warriors’ bench maybe slightly better but the defensive discipline of Mavericks give them a slight edge.
