DAL vs OKC DREAM11 MATCH PREVIEW:

Oklahoma City Thunder will be looking for their 2nd consecutive win when they play Dallas Mavericks at American Airlines Center, in downtown Dallas, Texas in an away NBA match, on Monday morning (IST).

Dallas Mavericks:

Not many teams would come out unscathed from the furnace looking court on a day when Anthony Davis catches fire, or he plays to his potential. Yes, a player destined for greatness and ultimate glory which only the likes of LeBron James, Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant can boast about these days. The Pelicans star is right there, waiting for this moment.

So the poor opponent were Dallas Mavericks who fought hard almost against one man and had the victory at a distance where the visitors could smell it for their only fourth win on the road this season. But Davis had the last laugh.

This was the 2nd game of the two-game series between these two franchises. The first game was won by Dallas 122-119 on Thursday. And it looked like a 2-0 sweep for Luka Doncic and co. as they had a one-point lead with just 1:17 minutes to go into the match. But Davis showed why he is being hailed as one of the biggest superstars of the current generation as he thumped a three-pointer to win the match 114-112 for his team. That shot was the last point of the game.

Davis dropped his season-best 48 points in the match and also scored 17 rebounds in the match.

For Mavericks, Doncic scored a team-high 34 points while Harrison Barnes and Dennis Smith Jr. scored 21 and 14 points each in the match. No other player could touch the double-digit mark for the away side.

Dallas (16-18) remained 12th in the Western Conference but are ahead of Pelicans who are 14th with a 16-20 record.

Oklahoma City Thunder:

Oklahoma City Thunder ended their two-game skid with a comprehensive 102-118 win over Phoenix Suns. Thunder moved to 2nd in the table after defending champions Golden State Warriors lost at home to Portland Trail Blazers.

The 16-point victory may seem easy by the reading but it doesn’t reveal the full story. In fact, the Suns were three points clear after the 2end of the third quarter and had the momentum to punish the visitors. But big players show their true colours when the going gets tough and that’s what happened in the last quarter of the match.

Russell Westbrook then took over the match and was given a perfect supporting hand by the off-season recruit Dennis Schroder. The 2017 NBA MVP scored 40 points in the match with 15 coming in the last six minutes of the match. While Schroder had dropped 14 of his 20 points in the fourth quarter alone as Thunder won the last round 37-18 to pull themselves clear of any danger.

Thunder’s best player this season Paul George missed the match with an injury. He is expected to be out of the action from the next few games.

But Westbrook made up for his star teammate’s absence with a game-high and his personal season-best. The 29-year-old scored 40 points, and also had 12 rebounds and 8 assists in the match.

Regular Season Record-
Dallas Mavericks: W-16, L-18
Oklahoma City Thunder: W-20, L-15

Players to watch out for:
Dallas Mavericks:

Luka Doncic – Had a monster game last time around and brought his team within a whisker to win a game against a big team. Still only 19, Doncic is certainly going to be a future star. In the last 10 games, his average has gone a few points above than his season average. Certainly a player in good form.

Harrison Barnes – The 26-year-old is having a pretty decent season up until now and is averaging 18.4 points per game. In the last match against Pelicans, he scored 21 points and five rebounds.

Oklahoma City Thunder:
Russell Westbrook – He showed what he is capable of when he is in the mood. In the absence of Paul George, his monster best erupted into life and the 2017 NBA MVP ended up dropping 40 points in the match. The 29-year-old is averaging 21 points per game but his contribution is incredible as he remains the only player to average triple-double this season.
Dennis Schroder – He is certainly a talented player and has given Oklahoma City Thunder another dimension from the bench. The former Atlanta Hawks point-guard is averaging 16.1 points per game this season.
