How both the teams fared in the first stage?

Spain:

Spain’s 100% record came under serious threat when Italy took a four-point lead at 56-52 with just four minutes to play in the regulation time.

But the World No-2 had too much talent on their roster, as Ricky Rubio helped the team put on a decisive 10-0 run as Spain put their noses ahead late in the fourth quarter and never looked back.

It was Spain’s first game in the 2nd round and the win helped them book their place in the quarter-finals.

Spain also saw off Tunisia, Puerto Rico, and Iran in the first round by winning all their three games.

Serbia:

Serbia meanwhile ripped the Mickey out of Puerto Rico in the first game in the 2nd round, beating the Carribean Island team 90-47 to book a place in the quarter-finals.

Nikola Jokic and Co. meanwhile had no trouble in the first round, winning all their group games in a one-sided affair.

The next game is by far the biggest for the World No-4 team and which will certainly test the team’s credentials.
