GSW vs DEN Dream11: Guess what, the NBA Playoffs are here and the intensity will rise. The intensity already increased during the Play-in tournament and we see the average scores of every team fall down dramatically. Defenses are more focused in the Playoffs considering it is a “do-or-die” battle here and losses can mean elimination. And let us see how the two teams Golden State Warriors and Denver Nuggets respond to this scenario.

The Warriors have been a mystery in the second half of the season. They did finish the season on a high but got exposed on both ends of the floor multiple times. However, they have a core that has been through the Playoffs motions earlier and the return of Stephen Curry is bound to fill the team with more confidence.

On the other hand, the Nuggets are being carried by the wide back of Nikola Jokic. He has had to put on big-time performances time and time again. The team lacks the depth to be a title squad but Jokic is known to take his game to another level during the Playoffs. Can the Nuggets put a jolt in the Warriors’ carriage here?

NBA Projections, Stats & Analysis

Difference in depth

There is a vast difference in-depth when it comes to the Warriors and the Nuggets. Michael Porter Jr., the ace defender, and Jamal Murray, the team’s leading scoring guard, both have been sidelined for the Nuggets for the Playoffs, and that leaves them with a unit that gelled well throughout the season. However, this unit has been plagued by inconsistencies and they got away with it during the Regular Season because Jokic was able to put away below 50% win teams, however, the Postseason is a different story.

Draymond Green’s rhythm has recovered to some extent for the Warriors and he will most likely draw the assignment of Jokic. Green surely ups his defense further in the Postseason and he will make Nikola work hard. However, the difference in size and the versatility of Jokic’s offensive game will still give the Nuggets an edge in the middle. The Warriors will need to take care of the rebounding end and also shut off passing lanes for Jokic here.

Around Jokic, Aaron Gordon has perhaps been the most consistent scorer and at the big Forward position, if Jokic keeps Green busy, he will have his open shots, and remember Jokic can pass from tough angles so he will see the ball in his hands quite a bit. However, Will Barton and Monte Morris will need to nail their shots because on the other hand, they will have to deal with Klay Thompson and Jordan Poole, both high-scoring guards, and this guard-wing match-up becomes further tricky for the Nuggets considering the Warriors also have a stable scoring option, Andrew Wiggins.

The Warriors’ bench looks deeper as Otto Porter Jr. and Gary Payton bring a ton of defensive force while Otto fits well in the small-ball scheme as a rebounder. I haven’t come to Curry yet because he can be on a minutes restriction but in the end, he is a match-up nightmare, a tough defender who can also nail tough jumpers while also having a lot of tricks in the bag. The Nuggets will need a lot from a thin bench and Bones Hyland has been their highest-yielding player. There are so many things to talk about here but if you ask me, the Warriors will bring their A-Game here and the Nuggets may lose this series 0-4 or 1-4.

Fantasy Related Predictions

The major minutes for the Nuggets will be played by Jokic, Gordon, Barton, and Monte Morris. These four have been the major offensive options with of course, Jokic being the undisputed ace. On the other hand, Curry may play just 20-25 minutes but he is someone who can rack up 20 points in such a short window. On the other hand, Poole and Thompson both can also heat up while Green is an all-around player, who may not give many points but is up for big rebounds and assists. Otto Porter Jr. can be a filler option but I think his minutes can take a hit with Curry’s return. Andrew Wiggins is an above-average scorer and there is a lot to choose from in the Warriors’ pool!
