Golden State Warriors face Los Angeles Lakers for the fourth time in this preseason, looking for their first win over the 16-time NBA champions.
Warriors’ only win of the preseason game against Minnesota Timberwolves in their 2nd game. Stephen Curry put in some show of his own as he dropped 40 points in the 143-123 win.
While Lakers have won three times, all against the Warriors and lost twice in the preseason so far, with both those defeats coming against Brooklyn Nets in China.
A New Dawn for the Warriors and Steve Kerr:
But Steve Kerr will hardly lose sleep over the negative results against LeBron James’ team. The preseason assignments were always about finding how difficult life can be for the Dub after Kevin Durant and in the absence of Klay Thompson. And from what we have seen from Warriors, Kerr needs to find a lot of answers before the season.
Warriors may have lost Durant, but they have added a high-profile player in D’Angelo Russell to their roster. The former Los Angeles Lakers, and Brooklyn Nets star adds a whole new dimension to Warriors’ offence. he may not be known for his off-the-ball movement, but the 23-year-old guard is as good as any other player with the ball in his hands.
But the bigger problem facing Kerr in this season is who will provide the cover-up to Klay Thompson (injured and expected to miss the rest of the season).
It goes without saying that Thompson is perhaps one of the best sharpshooters the NBA has ever seen, so his absence will be almost unfillable.
