GSW vs POR Dream11 MATCH PREVIEW:

Kevin Durant looked absolutely fine when he buried a jumper. But by the time he swivelled back to defend, he was in pain. He left the court, was examined and the reports alleviated the fear of an Achilles tendon and revealed that the former Thunder suffered a calf injury. But it was enough to keep him out of the rest of Game-5, and possibly from the first phase of the conference finals as well.

But the main point is that nobody gave the Dubs enough wind to go out and beat the Houston Rockets in their own den. The real fear and the most possible outcome predicted from the series after Durant’s injury was that the Warriors were done and the defence of their crown was over.

All that because Durant was carrying the team in the playoffs this season, while Stephen Curry nowhere to be seen against the Rockets, playing only like an average player. Throw in James Harden, it was looking all bleak for the Warriors.

Till the 3rd quarter of the penultimate game of the Western Conference semifinals, Curry was plunging into the obscurity, again, as he went without scoring in the first half.

But then, when the moment of reckoning arrived, when his team needed him the most, he didn’t disappoint.

He turned into a Hulk, bringing out his aura with whom we are so familiar with. He erupted in the fourth quarter as he poured 23 of his 33 points (10 coking in 3rd) in that period.

“I just had to stay out of foul trouble,” Curry said. “The guys were telling me to be aggressive and that the floodgates would open at some point. In the fourth quarter, it was amazing.”

The pundits, the so-called experts, were again rallying against Warriors ahead of their match-up against Portland Trail Blazers.

But as LeBron James tweeted after Warriors’ seventh game win, “Never underestimate the heart of a Champion.” It was all a sham as Warriors beat Blazers in a blowout 116-94 win in Game-1.

Regular Season Record-
Golden State Warriors: W-57, L-25
Portland Trail Blazers: W-53, L-29

Players to watch out for:

Golden State Warriors:

Stephen Curry – All the people killing Golden State Warriors‘ chances of progressing in the postseason without Kevin Durant forgot that Stephen Curry was still there. He may have been struggling or seems to, because of his cut-back role whenever Durant was in the team, but he reminded everybody of what a great player he is as he is leading the Dubs with aplomb.

In the last game, he dropped 36 points, his fourth +30-point performance this postseason.

He should be your captain in this GSW vs POR Dream11 team.

Numbers that matter:

Other players to select from Golden State Warriors:

Klay Thompson – He will be into the free agency this summer and the reason he hasn’t signed an extension with the Warriors because he doesn’t want to be second fiddle to Kevin Durant and Stephen Curry. Well, he is too great a talent to act like that.

Thompson is averaging 18.8 points per game in the playoffs this season, while he has racked up points at 21.8 against Blazers at 41.6 shooting.

With Durant out of the game, he, along with Curry, will be the biggest threat fro Blazers. There are no reasons whatsoever to leave him out from your Dream11 team. He is a must in your NBA fantasy team.

Portland Trail Blazers:

Damian Lillard:

The last game was no indicator of how he is going to play in this series. It should be an aberration, for he is Blazers’ most talented player and is more than capable of coming to his very best in the very next game.

Damian Lillard is the 5th best offensive player in the 2019 playoffs and is averaging 27.7 points per game. His record against Warriors speaks for itself, which is 28.3 points per game.
