HOU vs BKN Dream11: In this cross-conference affair, the Houston Rockets host the Brooklyn Nets. Houston Rockets symbolizes the unpredictability, a team that had lost 14 games in a row earlier, has now won six in a row, and that too in a riveting fashion. Nets have the best record in the Eastern Conference and have won 17 games with 7 losses.
Rockets have been scrapping wins after wins and teams under the 50% win mark have especially folded against them. Houston presents a superb Guard-Center duo in Gordon and Wood who can produce offense consistently. The Houston bench is more solid than it looks on paper and I can’t help but admire their current run.
Nets have set their eyes for the bigger prize, i.e. the NBA championship. Well, when you have two future Hall-of-Famers like Kevin Durant and James Harden, settling for anything less is not desirable. Yes, Brooklyn has issues with off-guard depth and in terms of the bench but the team has been bolstered by the terrific play of LaMarcus Aldridge. Rockets: How long can they sustain the current run? Christian Wood and Eric Gordon have combined for 43-48 points recently and have got the offensive flow going. With Wood, Rockets also get a ton of rebounds and he can also play some more than decent defense. With Tate at wing and Garrison Matthews at off-guard combining for 30 or so and a bench of Sengun, Martin Jr., House, and Theis, Houston has a lot of options. However, a word of caution, I believe that since Rockets have won six in a row, it may look like they are on the rise but they are still unlikely to make the Playoffs. Not to discredit the current run, but most of the teams they have beaten are under the 50% win mark.
Nets: They close out well mostly Except for a game here and there, the Nets are well-adept at closing games. Why so? Well, Kevin Durant can dip in a lot of points with 4-5 minutes to go in the match and go in the takeover mode. Brooklyn has played a bunch of thrillers and most of the time, the Nets are focused on both ends in late-game situations. A team that has two all-around superstars like Durant and Harden can take apart many teams and the Nets defense is airtight at the perimeter as the team allows around just 31% threes and that is the best effort in the league.
