Karl Anthony-Towns dunking over Jaren Jackson MEM vs MIN Dream11

MEM vs MIN Dream11: Gosh, the Playoffs bring a ton of energy, don’t they? Well, this is the way of the league in which the threat of elimination looms closer as the Playoffs tick in. Although the higher-ranked teams are winning more often than not, there have been some hiccups along the way and some close battles. And that was evident in the first game between the Memphis Grizzlies and the Minnesota Timberwolves where the seventh-ranked Timberwolves beat the second-ranked Grizzlies

The Timberwolves completed an exciting takedown of the Grizzlies with an impressive scoreline of 130:117. That it was a high-scoring game barely came as a surprise but the opposite result was expected for sure. This is why the Timberwolves’ offense is dangerous, they were among the top-scoring teams and can utilize the three-ball game as well as any other team in the league. The Grizzlies can’t afford to lose two here and risk an upset in a series where the rest of the games are split between the two teams’ arenas.

NBA Projections, Stats & Analysis

Grizzlies need to shoot better and contain the Wolves

The Timberwolves’ offensive depth was in full flow in the last game. Edwards’ mastery ensured a late-game blitz to bury the Grizzlies and the latter will have to make a ton of adjustments. The team will rue getting outrebounded after finishing the season as an elite rebounding team. The major reason for the being outrebounded is that Steven Adams couldn’t be that effective on boards and Karl Anthony-Towns kept him off the block.

The Grizzlies shot just 25% at the three-point line and surely, against an elite long-range shooting of the Timberwolves, which is one of the best in the league and the team made 16 out of their 41 attempts in the last game. On the other hand, Anthony Edwards poured in 36 points which means that the wing match-up and the Center match-up were dominated by the Timberwolves thoroughly.

In a positive, the Grizzlies did limit Russell to a below 20% shooting and that can mean that shutting down one among Russell or Anthony-Towns can help their chances. However, the biggest bite was given by Malik Beasley off the bench, who captured 24 points, and Jalen McDaniels too, who had 15. The Grizzlies are known for their depth but they got heavily outmatched in terms of the bench too. Morant had an excellent night, Bane did his bid but Jaren Jackson had a poor shooting night and the Grizzlies will need to regroup here. It feels weird to say this but it looks like the Grizzlies many times play better when Morant is not playing…

Fantasy related speculations

For the Grizzlies, the clear-cut ace is Ja Morant during most nights, while Desmond Bane is another stable scorer. Adams was not at his best in the last game on the rebounding end but he has been rather dependable on that end. Jaren Jackson can be inconsistent offensively but brings a lot of value as a shot-blocker and defender, which helps the Fantasy stock. Brandon Clarke is a solid filler-type of player.

For the Timberwolves, D’Angelo Russell has been a little off from the floor at times and has not been a reliable Fantasy option. However, Karl Anthony-Towns and Anthony Edwards both have brought of a ton value at the fantasy end and Edwards has been an ace option these days. Malik Beasley, Patrick Beverley, and Jarred Vanderbilt can act as solid fillers.
