OLY vs ZAL Dream11: Olympiacos Piraeus will look to end to a two-game skid when they host Zalgiris Kaunas in EuroLeague round-8 game at Peace and Friendship Stadium, in Piraeus, Greece, on Friday night (IST). The hosts are looking for a response after two suffering two straight defeats.
Not that we are undermining the processes of Olympiacos’ last two opponents, but the Greek outfit would have certainly hoped for and were expected, a good result against Maccabi Tel Aviv and Anadolu Efes, after the incredible 79-84 win over defending champion CSKA Moscow.
The enormity of that result was clear from the fact that Olympiacos were the first team to beat CSKS Moscow in EuroLeague since last season. But they failed to back that result up and now sit at a lowly 15th position heading into this match.
Zalgiris Kaunas have had problems with its won this season. Just like Olympiacos, inconsistency have been the most consistent output in their result. They have had their own marquee road wins this season, most notably against Turkish giants Fenerbahce in Istanbul in Round 6, but they also failed to build on that display and went down to FC Barcelona last week.
It’s a crunch game for both the teams as neither can’t afford a defeat here.
GUY vs WNI Dream11 updates!
This will be the 22nd meeting between Olympiacos and Zalgiris Kaunas in the Europea competition. The Greeks hold the advantage with 12-9 record, but Zalgiris has won seven of their last eight head-to-head games against Olympiacos.
Some insight:
Zalgiris have lost just once in the last four visits to Peace and Friendship Arena. Olympiacos forward Georgios Printezis needs just two points to become just the third player in EuroLeague history to reach 3,000 points. Juan Carlos Navarro leads the record with 4,152 points, followed by Vassilis Spanoulis who has racked up 4,052 points.
