Philadelphia 76ers host Orlando Magic in an NBA match at the Wells Fargo Center, in Philadelphia, on Sunday.

Philadelphia 76ers:

If the opening night defeat against Boston Celtics showed many chinks in Philadelphia 76ers’ armour then it was a show of strength, power, precision and a never-die attitude of  Sixers’ incredible talent in the win over Chicago Bulls in the very next game.

After losing the first quarter 38-41, Brett Brown turned to the bench. It was just one of those games when everything turned to gold for Brown. His bench didn’t disappoint as he got 39 points out of Landry Shamet, JJ Redick, Amir Johnson and T.J. McConnell.

But it was Embiid and Simmons who stole the show. In the 2nd and the 3rd quarter, the Sixers rammed in a magnificent 64 points against Bulls’ modest 35 points in the same period.

Orlando Magic:

When the fixtures for the new NBA season was announced, Orlando Magic would have been excused if they were praying to avoid meeting Charlotte Hornets in the very first game. And why not, psychology plays a big part in today’s games.

Now take this, for example, Hornets were on a 14 game losing streak last season and were the 10the worst team in the conference with a 24-33 record. Then came Orlando Magic game for them and they ended up beating them and thus snapped their losing streak.

It’s been going on for the last five years now that Magic are not able to get past Hornets. In fact, they won just once in the last 14 games against them and suffered some very big losses – 37-point loss last year, a 40-point loss two years ago and six losses of double digits or more over that course of the period.

So the last game was certainly being played on two fronts for Magic – on the court and in the mind.

Season Record-
Philadelphia 76ers: W-1, L-1
Orlando Magic: W-1, L-0

Players to watch out for:

Philadelphia 76ers:

Joel Embiid – The Cameroonian was clearly a dejected figure at the end of the Celtics game and Bulls had to suffer his wrath in the very next game as he led his team to a victory. He remains 76ers most talented player from beyond the arc and will start the game against Magic.

Ben Simmons – The 2018 NBA rookie of the year is a star for the future. With Embiid beside him, he will only improve with every game.

Orlando Magic –

Aaron Gordon – He was Magic’s 2nd best player in the regular season in 2017-18. The 23-year-old once again showed in his first game why some top franchises are interested in trading him after racking up 26 points and 16 rebounds against Miami Heat.

Evan Fournier – He was Orlando Magic’s best player last season, and will start this game as well.

Philadelphia 76ers: Joel Embiid is showing no signs of slowing down. Even at 32, he is outshining most of his teammates, and it was the case in the last match as well when he topped the scoring charts with his 30 points and 12 rebounds against the Chicago Bulls.
Robert Covington (20 points) had a good game as well, while Ben Simmons, Dario Saric and three players from the bench ended up scoring in double digits.
Injured – Jerryd Bayless (knee), Wilson Chandler (Muscle), Mike Muscala (Ankle) and Zhaire Smith (foot) all have been ruled out of this match due to injury.
Questionable – None
Suspended – None

Orlando Magic: Last season, six Magic players finished the regular season with averaging in double digits. And they did quite well in the off-season to keep five of those players with only Elfrid Payton moving away to New Orleans Pelicans.
Aaron Gordon, Evan Fournier, Nikola Vucevic and D. J. Augustin all started the game while Jonathon Simmons played from the bench and ended up with 12 points. All these players will play this game.
Injured – None
Questionable – None
Suspended – None
