PHI vs MEM Dream11: NBA is a tough league because each team plays 82 games through the course of this season and with these many games, it means that the challenge to be consistent is high as many teams falter and many teams pick up their games. However, this is what makes the league fun as the variety of results and changing fortunes make it challenging to predict fantasy scenarios.
In another fantasy scenario, the Philadelphia 76ers clash against Memphis Grizzlies in an inter-conference match-up. The 76ers have been riding the hot hand of Joel Embiid lately and they have been unable to put together multiple winning streaks, having a cracking month of January. This is one of the reasons why they have been in the talk among the contenders for at least the Eastern Conference Finals.
On the other hand, the Grizzlies have been an amazing squad since December, and their ability to go on big game-winning streaks separates them from the rest of the young teams. The youth and vitality of the squad have enabled a wonderful cohesion and the depth of this team has been in full flow throughout the season. Host: Philadelphia 76ers Visitors: Memphis Grizzlies Match Timing: 1 February, @ 05:30 AM Venue: Wells Fargo Arena
Match-ups Joel Embiid can give a ton of trouble to the Grizzlies and I think both Jaren Jackson and Steven Adams will be occupied with the task of stalling the big throughout the game. However, that’d mean Tobias Harris will pose problems at the Forward position and he does benefit from playing alongside Embiid as it gives him more space to operate. This means that the team defense will be occupied in the frontline as both these players can do a fair bit of damage around the paint area. However, don’t underestimate Grizzlies’ multiple positions depths.
For the 76ers, first, their hands will be full with Morant and Bane, while Morant is scoring 30+ regularly, Bane can be an effective scorer too, thus Maxey, Curry, and Thybulle will have their work cut out. I think Adams will play more minutes than regular here containing Embiid, and his ability to set tough screens plus grab boards helps Jaren Jackson to work his own offense. I think Jaren is up for a big game here and he will give a ton of trouble to the Sixers’ defense. The Thybulle factor can help the 76ers take the Grizzlies early offense out and if he can click on some steals that it can help the 76ers build a big run. Konchar has been a great option for the Grizzlies too
However, there is one area where the Grizzlies have the 76ers beat and that is the bench depth. The 76ers have no players that can match the quality of Clarke, Anderson, and Melton, a lineup that produces all-around abilities, strong rebounding, and also more than decent scoring. I have no doubt that Memphis has a better bench than the 76ers and this is one area where the team can eke out a significant advantage. I think in the overall picture, the Grizzlies can make a deeper run come postseason because I have a strong feeling that Embiid will run out of gas once Playoffs arrive and unless the team makes major trade, their effort will only rely largely upon the Center.
