Is Prithvi the next big thing?

Is Prithvi, the cricketing prodigy  next Sachin Tendulkar? It is a new question that has yet again started hogging headlines after commentator Ian Bishop compared his strokeplay with Master Blaster.

As the U-19 captain Prithvi Shaw continues to make waves in the cricketing world, former West Indies fast bowler Ian Bishop couldn’t help gushing over his suave batting skills. Commenting to a Shaw drive off the front foot, Bishop said the shot from the 18-year-old  reminded him of the great Sachin Tendulkar. “That is Tendulkar!” the 50-year-old said.

Prithvi Shaw has already engraved his name in India’s domestic circuit after his outstanding performance for Mumbai. The batting whizz, Prithvi played a brilliant innings scoring 94 as India put 328 runs on board.

Shaw, who has just started off is all set to create new milestones. India under-19 team have kickstarted the world cup by beating Australia by 100 runs.

Shaw’s inning festooned with some classy cricketing shots bewildered the fans. Similar to batting legend Tendulkar’s pocket-sized shape, Shaw perfectly timed the ball and left Ian awed. Guided by ‘the wall’, Rahul Dravid, and led by Prithvi Shaw,  people have got all the right reasons to set high hopes for this U-19 team.

Twitter didn’t miss to take a dig when Prithvi went back to pavilion falling six runs short of a century and compared with Sachin’s fate of getting out in the nervous 90s.
