Dhoni had retired from Test cricket in 2014 during the tour of Australia but he continues to play the ODIs and T20Is.
In a sudden move, Dhoni stepped down as India’s limited-overs captain in January 2017 after choosing Virat Kohli as his successor.
Rumours of Dhoni’s retirement from the sport also sparked off during the England tour when Dhoni was seen asking the umpires for the match ball after the Leeds ODI which India lost to England.
