Former Indian ace shooter Abhinav Bindra was born on 28th September 1982. He is an Olympic Gold Medalist in the 10-meter Air Rifle event from the 2008 Olympic Games which took place in Beijing, China. Apart from winning a Gold Medal in the Olympics, he also won a Gold in the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games.

Talking about his early days, Bindra was born into a wealthy Punjabi Family and started his schooling at the Doon School for two years before moving to St Stephen's School in Chandigarh. He is a recipient of the Arjuna Award, Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award and also the Padma Bhushan. He is definitely one of the jewels among the Indian athletes.

  • On July 24, 2006, Bindra became the first Indian shooter to win a World Championship Gold in Zagreb.

  • He received the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award at the tender age of 18 in the year 2001. This made him the youngest recipient of this award.
  • He has won four consecutive Gold Medals in four consecutive Commonwealth Games editions from 2002 to 2014. Three of these medals were secured in pairs, whereas, the remaining one came in the individual event.
