Harmanpreet Kaur is a current captain of India’s Women Cricket Team. Known for sublime strokeplay, Harmanpreet is the first India cricketer – male or female – to sign a Big Bash League contract.

• When things were not looking good for her Harmanpreet applied for a job in the Punjab Government but only to be ridiculed and humiliated by the Punjab Police in 2010. However, three years later Maharashtra Government employed her in the Mumbai Division of Western Railways upon Sachin Tendulkar’s request.
• Harmanpreet even captained the Indian side in 2013 when Bangladesh Women team toured India. She was the backbone behind India’s success as she scored 195 runs and took two wickets, even hitting her second ton in the second ODI
• Harmanpreet also took India home like M S Dhoni did in the 2011 ICC World Cup final against Sri Lanka. She hit a sixer in the last ball against South Africa to qualify India for the World Cup
• To pay the due respect owed to Harmanpreet, Chief Minister Amarinder Singh offered her a job in Punjab Police saying he would look into the sports policy of the states that are simply disrespectful to players
