In 2019, Balbirnie lead the Ireland’s Under 19 World Cup Qualifier Winning squad as a captain. The victory of the squad opened the gates for U-19 team in the 2010 U-19 Cricket World Cup. However, his performance did not sweep the opponents off the ground. It was only in 2014 that his game transformed into a man’s play.
