Andre Fletcher West Indies Cricketer

Hailing from Grenada – a region not known for producing many cricketers, Andre Fletcher was part of the West Indies U19 squad in the 2006 U19 World Cup in Sri Lanka. Fletcher rose to fame after his big-hitting exploits in the 2006 Stanford 20/20 tournament which helped him to represent the Stanford Superstars in the Stanford Super Series. The top-order batsman scored a blistering 90*(66) vs Middlesex hitting seven sixes in the process and followed that knock with a 32* against England in the final match to bag the 1 million dollars prize money.

Fletcher was rushed into the international arena after his exploits in 2008 but was soon dropped after his poor showings with the bat. He made his comeback in the 2009 T20 WC squad where Fletcher along with Chris Gayle decimated the Australian attack putting on a match-winning partnership of 133 with the latter scoring 53(32). But his form fizzled out soon as he scored 3 consecutive ducks before getting dropped for the semis. Fletcher was in the West Indies squad that went on to win the 2016 T20 WC. His biggest contribution in the tournament came when he scored a mesmerising 84* vs Sri Lanka in a league game. Despite playing some brilliant knocks here and there, his international career never took off.
