Young Indian cricketer Atharva Ankolekar is an all-rounder who plays for the Under-19 team. He was raised in Mumbai where his father put a cricket bat near his crib the day he was born. His father coached him initially and told him stories about the cricket legends which made him fall for the sport. Atharva had great support from his family and coaches, after which he joined MIG Cricket Club for training.
Once he got a chance to impress Sachin Tendulkar at the age of 11 in 2011. During the practice session, Atharva bowled against the legendary player and got him out after a few bowls. Sachin was so impressed that he gifted him with a pair of autographed gloves.
Atharva was born on September 26, 2000, in Andheri East in Mumbai. His father was a bus conductor in Mumbai’s public transport service but he passed away due to malaria in the year 2010. Her mother got the job of a bus conductor in place of him. His brother is also pursuing his passion for cricket and is currently playing in the Under-14 team. Her mother also worked as a part-time tutor to make the ends meet.
