  • Involved in a dispute over sponsorship issues. He along with six other players was dropped for the first Test against South Africa in 2005
  • In what is described as a very rare sight, Gayle was involved in a heated argument with Michael Clarke in West Indies’ match against Australia in the Champions Trophy 2006. He was gesturing and screaming animatedly after Windies won.
  • In 2016, Australian test captain Ian Chappell encouraged Cricket Australia to ban Chris Gayle after his humiliating comment. While being interviewed by Network Ten commentator Mel McLaughlin during
    the 2015–16 Big Bash League season, Gayle said “so hopefully we can win this game and we can have a drink after” followed by “Don’t blush, baby.” Melbourne Renegades sanctioned Gayle with a A$10,000 fine for the inappropriate conduct.
