Darren Julius Garvey Sammy
West Indies Cricketer (All-rounder)
Darren Julius Garvey is a Saint Lucian cricketer who represents West Indies at International level. A right-handed batsman and a fast-medium bowler, Sammy is a two-time T20 World Cup winning skipper. He became the first St Lucian cricketer to make his ODI debut against Bangladesh in 2004. After three years he made his Test debut against England and he became the first West Indies player to return with match figures of 7/66 since Alf Valentine in 1950.
He was appointed as the Windies skipper in October 2010. He scored his first Test century against England in May 2012. Sammy is the only skipper to win World T20 twice. He captained West Indies to it’s first major trophy in eight years after winning the 2012 ICC World Twenty20 victory against Sri Lanka.
He was dropped as captain of the West Indies team on August 05, 2016.

- West Indies won the ICC T20 World Cup tournament twice (2012 & 2016) under his captaincy.
