Iftikhar Ahmed has been a consistent member of Pakistan‘s white-ball setup for a couple of years now. He had to compete with the likes of Babar Azam and Haris Sohail to knock on the doors of national selections.

Age 31 Years
Height 5 feet 10 inches
Wife Not Known
Jersey Number 95

Iftikhar Ahmed was born in a middle-class family of Peshawar and he aspired to be a cricketer right from the very beginning. He was making all the right noises during his club cricket days and as a result, he was selected to play for Peshawar in Faysal Bank T20 Cup and he made a debut at Lahore in 2010. But he failed to convert the hype around him into performances and he was dropped subsequently.

Then in October 2015, England was touring UAE and Iftikhar Ahmed was selected to play for Pakistan ‘A’. He slammed an impressive 92 against the regular bowling attack including James Anderson, Stuart Broad and Moeen Ali. National selectors decided to pursue upon him and he was selected in the senior team for the ODI series. He made his debut in the 2nd ODI but failed to impress with scores of 5 & 3 in the two matches he played.

In 2016, Pakistan was in England for a four-match test series and was looking to level the series in the final match at The Oval. But they were sweating over the replacement of struggling Mohammad Hafeez in the middle order. Captain and selectors decided to give Iftikhar Ahmed a go and he made his test debut. Again, he left fans disappointed and was dismissed for just 4 runs.

Iftikhar Ahmed was forced to return back to domestic cricket and to improve himself. This is where he became really consistent and started to put on solid performances one after the another. His back-to-back centuries helped Peshawar to bag the Regional One Day Cup in 2017.  He also slammed unbeaten 55 & 77 in Quaid-e-Azam trophy final in the same season for his team Water and Power Development Authority.
