Bumrah’s first game in the T20 World Cup was against New Zealand in 2016, and Bumrah made an instant impact as he bowled four tight overs, going for just 15 runs and picking up the wicket of Corey Anderson. India would go on to lose by 47 runs, though. The first and only time he went for runs was in the semi-final against West Indies when they chased down 193 to knock India out of the tournament.
In the 2021 tournament in the UAE, Bumrah had perhaps one of the greatest campaigns of defensive bowling in the tournament’s history. He took 0/22 (3 overs), 2/19 (4), 1/25 (4), 2/10 (3.4) and 2/19 (4). Despite this, India failed to qualify for the semi-finals, and Bumrah also missed the 2022 tournament through injury.
