Kasi Viswanathan is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Chennai Super Kings (CSK). He has been an integral part of the team management ever since the inception of the league and the franchise back in 2008.

Chennai Super Kings was formed in the year 2008, when the IPL also came into existence for the very first time. It was during the same year that Kasi Viswanathan took over as the Secretary of the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA). N Srinivasan, owner of Chennai Super Kings, had picked Viswanathan to manage the cricketing affairs of the India Cements team. This was the first time when he stepped foot into cricket administration. India Cements then bought IPL franchise CSK, where Viswanathan remained an integral part and was included in the administration team of CSK. He has been actively involved with the selection of players as the CEO can be seen at every IPL auction. It was in 2018 that he was appointed as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the franchise after being closely associated with the team right from the opening decade.

Biography

It is known that Kasi Viswanathan, or Kallidaikuruchi S Viswanathan, did his schooling at Sankara Sec School in Thalayathu, Tirunelveli. He played both junior and senior cricket at the district levels. At the age of 16, he was signed up to play competitive first division league cricket in Madras. The summer of 1968 saw him relocate to Madras full time as he joined the Vivekananda College, where he was an integral part of the college cricket team as well. Right after his graduation, he joined India Cements in their accounts department and has been with the company ever since. He stopped playing league cricket in 1986 and focused on his work in the Cost department at India Cements. It was only after N Srinivasan picked Viswanathan to manage the cricketing affairs of the India Cements team that he moved into cricket administration. Along with the IPL, Srinivasan has also played a huge role in the cricket administration at the TNCA.
