Michael Hussey is known as Mr Cricket. He has in-depth knowledge of the game and near-perfect career. His debut in international cricket is considered as late because he was 28 years old when he took his first step to walk into the international stadium against India in 2004. Hussey is deemed to be one of the calm and composed cricketers, and he likes to play under MS Dhoni’s captaincy in IPL. It is a well-known fact about Hussey that he is counted as one of the great fielders of the cricket. He raised the bar of fitness in the team by showing his skills while fielding for his side.
Hussey was awarded OSI Player of the Year in 2006 and he was included in the Test and ODI XI of that particular year.
He continued his performance and was once again opted into the squad of ODI and Test XI’s of ICC in 2007
In 2010 and 2013, Hussey was added into the ODI team of ICC.
Hussey received the Allan Border Medal in 2006 and became the Australian Cricketer of the Year where he competed Brett Lee and Adam Gilchrist to became the first choice of the jury.
