Odean Smith is a powerful, muscular fast bowler in the mould of Tino Best, capable of clocking over 90 mph with a short run-up and can hit the cricket ball hard.

After making his List A debut in the Nagico Super50 competition for the West Indies U-19s team, he became a part of the 2016 U19 World Cup winning West Indies team along with the likes of S Hetmyer, A Joseph, Keemo Paul and Chemar Holder to name a few. He played a couple of games in the WC but went wicketless in both.

Jamaican Tallawahs drafted him into their side for the CPL 2017 season and he responded well with a 3/20 in his debut match against TKR despite two catches being dropped off his bowling. But he wasn’t able to repeat that performance as he managed to grab a sole wicket from the next 3 games. In Dec 2017, he made his first-class debut for Jamaica scoring 54(27) with the bat on his debut. CPL 2018 ended badly after he went wicketless in all 3 matches for St Lucia Stars. He failed to leave a mark on the selectors after being named in the West Indies A squad for the series against Sri Lanka A and England Lions in 2017 and 2018.

Odean Smith was called up to the West Indies national team as a part of a depleted side in 2018 after some senior players refused to travel to Pakistan for a T20I series. He made his debut in the second game replacing an injured V Permaul grabbing 2 wickets at an economy rate of 11 in two games and hasn’t played for West Indies since that series. After switching base from Jamaica to Trinidad & Tobago for the 2018/19 season, he took 17 wickets (his most in a season) in the 2018/19 Regional 4-Day competition. Jamaica Scorpions drafted him back for the 2020/21 domestic season and he’ll be representing Guyana Amazon Warriors in CPL 2020.
