In the last couple of years, Rahmanullah Gurbaz’s rise in white-ball has been phenomenal. While he has already established himself in T20 cricket, he is looking to bring more consistency to his game in the 50-over format.

However, he still remains a vital player for Afghanistan at the top. His ability to smash bowlers and maximize the powerplay is second to none. Afghanistan have a lot of hopes for Rahmanullah Gurbaz in the World Cup 2023.

The wicketkeeper-batter has started decently as he played a decent knock of 47 runs against Bangladesh in their first game. Afghanistan now would want a more impactful knock from their star player against the stronger opponents India.

Rahmanullah Gurbaz has blown hot and cold lately and he needs to be more consistent. He is too good to be a player for not scoring runs consistently. Recently, he played a wonderful knock of 145 runs against Bangladesh but he could not follow that knock with big scores.

In the next two matches, he scored 6 and 18, respectively. Gurbaz then smashed Pakistan for a whirlwind knock of 151 runs but once again failed to follow his knock with something substantial. In fact, he could only manage three single-digit scores in the next three matches.

There are no doubts about the quality Rahmanullah Gurbaz has but he has to work on his temperament to fulfil the potential. He is a key player for Afghanistan and it is his responsibility to provide Afghanistan with solid starts at the top. The right-handed batter will have to apply himself better if he wants to see his national causing a couple of upsets against the big teams in this World Cup.
