Controversies

  • On his first tour of England in 1986, Lamba was involved in a rare incident where 12 fielders were on the field for a full over.
  • In a Duleep Trophy match at Jamshedpur in 1990-91, Lamba was involved in a heated exchange with West Zone cricketer Rashid Patel. He was handed a ban for eight months by the BCCI.

Lesser Known Facts

  • In 1990, while playing as an overseas professional cricketer in Ireland, Lamba met his future wife and Irishwoman Kim Michelle Crothers. The couple got marries in 1990.
  • On 23rd February 1998, Lamba died in the Post Graduate Hospital in Dhaka after he was hit on the temple by a cricket ball stroked by Mehrab Hossain while fielding at forward short-leg.
