Born on 2 April 1987, Ran Singh hails from Dirba Sangrur, Punjab. He was introduced to the game at an early age when he started to play for the under-14 kabaddi school team. 

Raniya as he is lovingly called by his relatives and dear ones, Ran Singh completed his schooling from Hemkunt Convent School, Dirba. He is a graduate from Punjab Technical University.

Hereafter, he joined the Bengal Warriors Team and proved his presence well in the team.
