Sanath Jayasuriya is one of the legends of Sri Lankan Cricket. Known as Matara Hurricane, Matara Mauler, Sanath made his test debut in 1991 against New Zealand and his ODI debut in 1989 against Australia.. Jaysurya is responsible for Sri Lanka’s highest total in all three formats of cricket. He made 340 out of 952 in Test, 157 out of 443 in ODI & 88 out of 260 in T20I. He was not only a great batsman, but he was a good bowler. Jayasuriya took ODI wickets 323 than Australian Shane Warne 293.

Jayasuriya is only second to Sachin in the numbers of haing Man of the Match. Jayasuriya has been awarded with 47 Man of the Match Awards.
Jayasuriya had four 150+ scores in ODI under his name with four five-wicket hauls which are considered as most by any player that is indulged from both the angles.
He holds the record of having a highest individual score by a Sri-Lankan. He scored 189 runs against India in Sharjah, 2000.
He scored 340 runs against India in a Test match at Premadasa Stadium Columbo in 1997 which is the highest individual score against India and second highest score by a Sri-Lanka.
Jayasuriya is the only Sri-Lankan player who scored a double century in Test against England.
He is the only allrounder in the world of cricket who took 300 wickets, 10,000 runs and 100 succesful catches.
Jayasuriya took more ODI wickets 323 than Australian Shane Warne 293.
