Wanindu Hasaranga Career

Wanindu Hasaranga is a Sri Lankan cricketer who is known for his impressive skills as an all-rounder. He was born on 29th July 1997 in Galle, Sri Lanka. Hasaranga began his cricketing journey at a young age and honed his skills playing for his school team, Richmond College.

Hasaranga made his debut for Sri Lanka in limited-overs cricket in 2017 and quickly made a name for himself with his leg-spin bowling and hard-hitting batting. He made his T20I debut against New Zealand at the Pallekele International Stadium and gave a glimpse of his talent right in his debut.

In 2019, Hasaranga was selected for the Sri Lankan team for the 2019 Cricket World Cup. He played in four matches and took two wickets. He also played a key role in Sri Lanka’s victory against South Africa in the same year, taking three wickets and scoring 19 runs.

In 2021, Hasaranga had a breakthrough year, becoming the No. 1 ranked T20I bowler in the world. He played a crucial role in Sri Lanka’s series win against India and also got his ticket to the Indian Premier League for Royal Challengers Bangalore. The RCB team management kept their faith on Hasaranga and bought him back in the 2022 Auctions for INR 10.30 Crore. Later, ahead of the 2023 auctions, RCB retained the Sri Lankan all-rounder for the same price.
