We have got our first finalists for IPL 2026. The reigning champions, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru, have booked their ticket for the Tata IPL 2026 final after humiliating the Gujarat Titans by 92 runs at the picturesque HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala in the first qualifier. It’s now time for the eliminator to take place between the 2016 champions Sunrisers Hyderabad and the 2008 champions Rajasthan Royals.

Both teams are prepping up for the ultimate clash at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur, New Chandigarh. The winner will proceed to the second qualifier to lock horns with the loser of the first qualifier, i.e., the Gujarat Titans, whereas the loser of this game will be eliminated. Ahead of this all-important clash, let’s dig down to four key battles that could define the outcome of this game.

SRH vs RR: Pat Cummins vs Vaibhav Sooryavanshi

Rajasthan Royals’ young prodigy Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has been a headache for opposition bowlers. The youngster fears no one, and he did the same with Pat Cummins when the two crossed paths last time at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur in a league game this season. Sooryavanshi, living up to his reputation, smashed Pat for a massive six off the very first ball he faced from the Aussie ODI and Test skipper.

Once again, the two will be against each other in the Eliminator, and Vaibhav will back himself to smash Pat yet again. For the paceman, Vaibhav’s wicket will be a big responsibility; if somehow he manages to get the better of the youngster, SRH will have their noses ahead in the fixture.

SRH vs RR: Jofra Archer vs Abhishek Sharma

Jofra Archer against Abhishek Sharma will be another mouthwatering contest. Archer has bowled only one delivery to Abhishek in IPL history and got him out on the same. Abhishek has not scored a run against Jofra, but the southpaw will be looking to get the better of the English pacer in this all-important clash.

Jofra has been RR’s premier bowler this season, scalping 21 wickets from 14 games; on the other hand, Abhishek Sharma has been SRH’s 3rd best batter this season, having scored 563 runs from 14 innings at a remarkable strike rate of 206.22. Therefore, Jofra Archer vs Abhishek Sharma will be a battle worth watching.

SRH vs RR: Nandre Burger vs Ishan Kishan

Nandre Burger teed off this season of the Tata IPL for the Rajasthan Royals. However, with some late shuffles in the squad to figure out the balance, Nandre was left out for quite some games. He will be a key bowler alongside Jofra Archer and will be sharing the new ball with him.

Burger has bowled only 11 balls to Ishan Kishan, and the left-hander has scored 21 runs against him at a brilliant strike rate of 191. The left-arm pacer has got the better of the SRH batter once, but it’s Ishan who has the mettle over the RR pacer. This could be an interesting battle to watch in this game.

SRH vs RR: Sakib Hussain vs Yashasvi Jaiswal

Sakib Hussain, undoubtedly, has been the find of Sunrisers Hyderabad this season. The right-arm pacer has troubled one and all with his plethora of slower deliveries. He is the second-highest wicket-taker for the Sunrisers Hyderabad this season, with 15 wickets from 10 games at an economy of 9.07.

Sakib made his IPL debut this season in the first of the two games that SRH played against RR. The right-arm pacer made an impact straightaway, scalping 4 wickets, and will be at the forefront again in this all-important clash. His battle against Yashasvi Jaiswal will be one to watch out for in this game.

The two have crossed paths only once this season, where Sakib dismissed Yashasvi on the fourth ball he bowled. The left‑hander is yet to score a run against him. Jaiswal hasn’t been at his best this season, but given the importance of this game, he should rely on his strengths to deliver against Sakib and SRH’s bowling unit in this all‑important Tata IPL 2026 Eliminator.
