Bangladesh U 19 has clinched the top spot of the points table in the tri-nation series after back to back wins over England and India in the previous encounters. Bangladesh registered 7 wickets win over England on July 28 and managed 2 wickets win over arch-rivals India under the DLS method in a rain-affected encounter on July 30, Tuesday.

The seventh fixture between Bangladesh and India was reduced to 36 overs per side due to rain intervention. Opting to field first, Bangladesh did a wonderful task in restricting India to 221-5 in the allotted overs despite some good knocks from Qumran Iqbal’s (44), Pragnesh Kanpillewar (53) and Dhruv Jurel’s (70).

The target was further revised in the second innings to 218 in 32 overs due to rain coming into play again. Bangladesh recovered well after losing Tanzid Hasan for mere 11 runs in the second over and managed 219-8 in 31.3 overs after which they were declared the winners by 2 wickets under the DLS method.

With 7 points coming off three wins and a draw, Bangladesh is sitting at the top and will be taking on the hosts England at Toby Howe Cricket Ground, Billericay in the eighth fixture. Each team will play eight games in the tri-series and will face each other four times. The top two teams will then play the final at Hove on August 11.

England is currently placed at the bottom of the points table with just one win in four games.

Both the teams have met twice in the series and with Bangladesh turning out to be the winners on both occasions.

The clash will begin at 03:30 PM IST.
