Bayern Munich start the defense of their league title when they host Hertha Berlin in the opening weekend of the 2019-20 Bundesliga season at Allianz Arena.
Pre-Season:
Bayern Munich’s pre-season gives us a clue about what we can expect from the reigning German champions this season. From what we have seen so far, all things indicate that it could really be a long and arduous campaign for both the manager Niko Kovac and his players.
The reason being Bayern’s slow game, or at least it was seen in the pre-season matches, and the lack of guile and pace in the midfield.
Reinforcements are certainly needed if the Muchen are to challenge on every front this season.
For Hertha Berlin, the main aim should be to build on the last season and break into the top-10. It would be hard though, as there is a lot of competition and most teams above them have added good quality players to their roster.
Match Details:

Potential Game Changers:
Likely to score:
Captain and Vice-Captain Selection:
Robert Lewandowski: Interestingly, the Polish hitman is yet to score a league goal against Hertha Berlin. That’s quite an aberration, considering the record the 30-year-old boast. He will no doubt be looking to end that run and hit the ground running this season.
Last season’s stats:
Kingsley Coman: The young Frenchman had an injury-hit last season. The 23-year-old will be looking to start afresh and recapture the form which forced Bayern to make his loan a permanent move.
Thiago: The feet he has, the vision he possesses, and the guile with which he moves in the midfield, makes him one of the finest player in this Bayern team.
Serge Gnabry: He has finally turned the promise he showed in Arsenal into a world-class talent. The 24-year-old is now a mainstay in this team.
Saloman Kalou: The former Chelsea star still has a lot to offer at the highest stage in football. He was one of Hertha’s best players last season and will be looking to start the season on a good note.
