The flamboyant captain of the Indian team, Virat Kohli is just unstoppable, scoring more and more runs with each passing day. The Indian skipper has recently acquired the Man of the Series title in IND vs WI ODI. Kohli scored 234 runs in just two matches which included his unbeaten 114 runs in the 3rd ODI. His century not only helped him win the series for his team but with that, he also became the first player to score 20,000 runs in a decade.

Surpassed the record of most runs against West Indies

The world record for scoring the highest runs against West Indies lies with veteran cricketer Javed Miandad. The record was unbroken for straight 26 years until now, Kohli has surpassed this record. Moreover, the Indian team has clearly dominated Test cricket, winning eight of their last 10 Test-format series.

Kohli next in line to become India’s most successful captain in Test

In the past five years, since Kohli took the captaincy in 2014 he has won 26 of his 46 matches as captain. Now, currently, the record for registering the highest win as the captain of Indian Test team lies with M.S.Dhoni who has won 27 out of 60 matches.

Therefore, Virat needs just two more wins in Test to surpass that record and with IND vs WI test series going on, the destination doesn’t seem too far.

Most successful captain in away Tests

Kohli can surpass the former Indian team captain Saurav Ganguli’s record as the most successful captain in away Test. Ganguli had won 11 out of 28 away tests, while Virat has also won an equal number of Test but out of 15 away tests. Kohli will establish a new world record if he wins any of the two tests going on against Windies.

Could be the first Indian team captain to win two-Test series in WI

In head to head matches against Windies, the Indian team has still a long way to go with Windies winning 30 out of 96 test matches while India has won only 20. In 2016 Kohli won the four-match Test series with 2-0 against Windies in his maiden away series as captain.

Kohli was also the highest-scorer of that test making 251 runs. Now if Kohli wins the ongoing Test series he will become the first-ever captain to register two Tests series in West Indies.
