4th Test, IND vs ENG Stats Highlights from Day 1

IND vs ENG Stats : The fourth and final Test between India and England have kicked off in Ahmedabad. Team India continued their dominance over England as they dismissed England for just 205 runs in their first innings and then ended the day at 24/1. Earlier England won the toss and opted to bat first. Their batsmen’s struggled against Indian bowlers continued as Axar Patel removed their openers in his first three overs then Mohammad Siraj took the big wicket of Joe Root. Ben Stokes fought well from one end and scored a fifty but Washington Sundar sent him back to dressing room for 55 runs. The lower order batsmen Dan Lawrence and Ollie Pope put some fight but against the duo of Axar Patel and R Ashwin they didn’t last longer and got out and the while team bowled out for 205 runs in the last session of day. For India Axar Patel took 4 wickets, R Ashwin 3, Mohammad Siraj 2 and Washington Sundar took 1 wicket. In reply India lost Shubman Gill for a three balls duck as he got out off James Anderson bowling and then Rohit Sharma and Cheteshwar Pujara built a small partnership and finished the day without any more damage at 24/1.

4/68 – Axar Patel’s bowling figures in the first innings of this Test match. For the fourth consecutive time he has taken 4 or more wickets in an innings in Test cricket. Overall he has taken 22 wickets in this series so far.

55 – Ben Stokes played 55 runs knock and he is the only batsman from England to score more than one fifty plus score in this Test series.

6 – Joe Root has now gone 6 consecutive innings without a fifty plus scores. Since his 218 in the first innings of first Test he hasn’t crossed 50 runs mark.
