IPL is one of the most popular leagues around the globe and the players along with their franchise leave no stone unturned to make an impact in this cash plus glamour rich cricket league. IPL 2021 schedule and the venues have not been confirmed yet but the preparations for the upcoming season have begun for CSK.
Chennai Super Kings’ skipper MS Dhoni landed in Chennai on Wednesday to take part in the first training session of the franchise. The three-time champions Chennai Super Kings’ preparations for the upcoming IPL season are set to begin from next week with the first training session scheduled to take place on 9 March.
MS Dhoni was seen sporting a white T-shirt and a face mask while making his way out of the airport. Chennai Super Kings took to Instagram and other social media platforms to welcome their “Thala”.
The former India captain and CSK skipper MS Dhoni will serve a five-day quarantine and will be subjected to a couple of COVID-19 tests before starting training from the next week.
Ambati Rayudu was another CSK player to reach Chennai on Wednesday while other Tamil Nadu players will join a little later. Ravindra Jadeja is likely to join the CSK training camp by the end of March. Team India all-rounder has resumed training at NCA in Bengaluru after being out of the action for a couple of weeks due to the thumb fracture on the Australian tour.
MS Dhoni-led CSK did not fare well in the last IPL season and failed to qualify for the playoffs for the first time ever in league history. The franchise picked up England all-rounder Moeen Ali (Rs 7 crore), Karnataka all-rounder K Gowtham (Rs 9.25 crore), and Cheteshwar Puajra (Rs 50 lakh) in the recent mini-auction earlier this year.
CSK also roped in a couple of young talents in the likes of Tamil Nadu batsman C Hari Nishaanth, Harishankar Reddy, and Bhagath Varma (Rs 20 lakhs each).
