New IPL Teams 2022 Owner, Winning Bid, Coach, Captain, Mentor, Key Players

In 2022, BCCI decided to add two new IPL teams to make Indian Premier League a 10-team affair. In an auction ceremony in October 2021, Ahmedabad and Lucknow were added as two new Indian Premier League franchises.
New IPL teams 2022
Sanjeev Goenka’s RP-SG Group bid the highest (7090 crores) and bought the Lucknow franchise, while the Ahmedabad franchise was bought by CVC Capital Partners at 5625 crores.
Earlier in September 2021, BCCI shortlisted six cities- Guwahati, Ranchi, Cuttack (all East), Ahmedabad (West), Lucknow (Central Zone), and Dharamsala (North) for two new ipl teams and set the base price at 2000 crore in the tender.

1. Lucknow SuperGiants
RP-SG group named their franchise Lucknow SuperGiants similar to their previous franchise Rising Pune SuperGiants and appointed Andy Flower and Gautham Gambhir as their coach and mentor respectively. They also made KL Rahul their captain after drafting him in as their first pick.

The CVC Capital owned franchise was named Gujarat Titans ahead of the 2022 IPL meg auction. They appointed Ashish Nehra and Gary Kirsten as their coach and mentor respectively. They also named Hardik Pandya as their captain after drafting him in as their first pick.
