DAL vs PHO Dream11: The WNBA has announced the All-Star starters and the regular ones have figured in the fray. Breanna Stewart, A’ja Wilson, and Elena Delle-Donne continue to dominate the scene but they will be joined by first-timers like Jackie Young, and Kelsey Plum, which means the Aces are going to send at least of their players. Anyway, there is also the reigning All-Star MVP Arike Ogunbowale in the fray, who can end up being named in the team too. Her Dallas Wings will meet the Phoenix Mercury here.
The Wings have taken it up a notch compared to the last season and as a result, they have been much-better record-wise. Their record of nine wins and nine losses may not be spectacular but their manner of wins has been emphatic against low-performing teams. In their last game, they won 94:68 as Arike Ogunbowale pinned 24 points. Conversely, the Phoenix Mercury has been one of the worst teams in the league and they have twice more losses(6) than wins(12). They have fallen apart without Britney Griner and their defense has been awful. In their last game, they were beaten by another low-ranked team twice in a row as Minnesota Lynx beat them 100:88 in another underwhelming effort by the Mercury.
Host: Dallas Wings Visitors: Phoenix Mercury Match Timing: 26June, @ 05:30 AM (+05:30 UTC) Venue: College Park Center
Wings: Limitless range
The Wings are one of the best three-point shooting in the leagues and can make them from as far as five feet beyond the arc. Arike especially has brilliant range and when she gets it going, defenses have no answer for the rest of the team. Shooters like Marina Mabrey and Allisha Gray give the team a further lift from beyond the arc and with these three shooters, the Wings have been amping it up.
The Wings are also amazing at reading the lanes at getting the steals to propel a fastbreak styled game and they are equally well-adept at getting shots up late in the shot-clock. Isabelle Harrison has been a bit iffy but her diving game helps balance the outside shooting. The bench has had its moments but the team can find better combinations I believe.
Mercury’s huge woes
Losing twice in a row against the team with the worst record in the league sums up the Mercury season. Their defense looks embarrassing without Brittney Griner, and when you allow 100 points against an awful offensive team like the Lynx, things are alarming indeed. This is why the Mercury’s defense has looked especially out-of-sync against elite offenses.
Dianna Taurasi continues to be an elite scorer and playmaker whereas Skylar Diggins-Smith has been huge as usual. Tina Charles has been able to get past her slow start and has been a huge factor on the offensive end and as a rebounder. Diamond DeShields and Shey Peddy have been huge too but the team defense has been awful.
