वर्तमान में, एनसीए (राष्ट्रीय क्रिकेट अकादमी) में, अश्विन अपनी गंभीर चोट के लिए इलाज से गुज़र रहे हैं। ईशांत शर्मा जल्द ही वहा जाने वाले है जहां आश्विन अपना इलाज करा रहे है । 2 9 सितंबर 2018 को, दोनों के लिए एक फिटनेस टेस्ट निर्धारित किया गया है। दुर्भाग्य से अगर ट्रेनर्स ने उन दोनों को अनफिट घोषित किया तो सेलेक्टर्स एक दिन पहले अंतिम टीम की घोषणा कर सकते है।

सेलेक्टर्स का लक्ष्य एक ऐसी टीम बनाना है जो उस समय भी वही रहे जब ऑस्ट्रेलिया दौरा हो । इंग्लैंड दौरे मे शिखर धवन के खराब प्रदर्शन के बावजूद वो आज भी पसंदीदा है अब ये देखना कि मयंक अग्रवाल और पृथ्वी शॉ को टीम मे जोड़ा जाएगा या नहीं ।

अगला सवाल यह है कि अगर अश्विन को टीम से हटाया गया तो,टीम मैनेजमेंट उनकी जगह किसको सेलेक्ट करेगी, कई लोगों का मानना है कि पसंदीदा विकल्प यूज़वेन्द्र चहल है लेकिन लाल रंग की गेंद से खेलने के लिए अभी वो पूरी तरह तयार नहीं है उन्हें और प्रैक्टिस की जरूरत है । यह भारत ए कोच राहुल द्रविड़ ने भी जाहिर किया था।

For the two injured bowlers, senior Ishant Sharma and off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, a big hurdle lies ahead of them as they will undergo a fitness test this coming Saturday. This is for the selectors to be completely positive about the player’s conditions before they make their final call for the upcoming two-test series against West Indies starting this year from October 4th.
Currently, at the NCA (National Cricket Academy), Ashwin is undergoing rehabilitation for his groin injury. Ishant Sharma is expected to join him soon. On the 29th of September 2018, a fitness test has been scheduled for the duo. Unfortunately for them, if the trainers rule out the pair then the selectors may announce the final team a day earlier.
A meeting was scheduled between MSK Prasad and Devang Gandhi on Wednesday to discuss the list of players for the test series. A meeting was scheduled earlier but the five selectors were not available at the time as one(Sarandeep Singh) was in Dubai, two (Jatin Paranjpe and Gagan Khoda) were engaged with the Vijay Hazare Trophy.

The aim of the selectors is to perfect a squad that will also remain the same when they will head off to Australia. The current favourite despite his lacklustre performance in England is Shikar Dhawan. Fans are looking forward to seeing if Mayank Agarwal and Prithvi Shaw will be added.
the next question is if Ashwin is ruled out who will the team management committee pick as a spinner. Many believe the preferred choice is Yuzvendra Chahal. It is a known fact that Chahal isn’t ready for red-ball cricket. He still needs practice, this was also pointed out by India A coach Rahul Dravid.
