Asia Cup: Twitter reacts to Bangladesh’s win over Pakistan

Bangladesh enter the finals of Asia Cup

Bangladesh continued their impressive performance in limited overs cricket by defeating Pakistan in the Asia Cup. The match which was a virtual semi-final saw plenty of twists but at the end Bangladesh’s discipline in all departments overpowered Pakistan and has sent them packing home now. Bangladesh fans are feeling ecstatic about the win and they expressed their pleasure on Twitter.

With this win Bangladesh have now entered the finals and they will lock horns against India on September 28.

And the fact that Bangladesh achieved this feat in the absence of their two star players Shakib Al Hasan and Tamim Iqbal makes it even more spectacular.

Bangladesh defeat Pakistan by 37 runs

Riding on Mushfiqur Rahim’s sterling knock and vital contributions by the bowlers, Bangladesh defeated Pakistan by 37 runs. Rahim scored 99 runs but missed on a hundred, however he added 144 runs for the fourth wicket with Mohammad Mithun (60 runs) which turned out to be a decisive phase of the match.

Pakistan pulled things back in the death overs but couldn’t prevent Bangladesh from reaching 239 runs. In reply, barring Imam-ul-Haq who scored 83, no Pakistan batsman took the responsibility and the team was routed for 207 runs.

Mustafizur Rahman who bowled an incredible last over against Afghanistan was once again outstanding as he claimed four wickets and dented Pakistan”s middle order. He was ably supported by Mehidy Hasan Miraz who took two wickets.

Earlier in the tournament, Bangladesh defeated Sri Lanka and Afghanistan to stay alive and now with a win over Pakistan they have ensured that there won’t be a third match between India and Pakistan in the Asia Cup.

The cricket fraternity congratulated the Bangladesh team for this massive win.

Bangladesh fans expressed their delight on social media while Pakistan fans couldn’t hide their despair.
