Pakistan vs England 2nd Test: From absolutely nowhere, the Ben Stokes-led England team managed to produce a result on a flat Rawalpindi wicket in the first Test match against Pakistan as the visitors registered a historic 74-run victory on the final day. England have taken a 1-0 lead in the three-match Test series. Pakistan will now cross swords with the visiting England in the second Test match from 9 December, 2022 at the Multan Cricket Stadium in Multan.
The pitch at the Multan Cricket Stadium will largely be expected to come up with a competitive contest between the bat and ball which was fortunately missing during the Pakistan vs England 1st Test in Rawalpindi. However, this will be the first Test match in Multan after a long span of as many as 16 years and thus, it will be a fresh wicket on offer with the batsmen enjoying the conditions on the first three days. The track is expected to assist the spinners ideally from Day 3 onwards and it will be a challenge for the pace bowlers from both Pakistan and England. The captain winning the toss should definitely choose to bat first with the average first innings total being 344 runs and batting will be tough on the last couple of days of the Test match especially tackling the spinners.
Both England and Pakistan last played a Test match at the Multan Cricket Stadium in 2005. Pakistan won the match by 22 runs as England got bowled out for 175 runs in the fourth innings. Former India cricketer Virender Sehwag scored his first-ever triple century at the very same venue and thus, the cricket fans can expect another run-fest in the upcoming Pakistan vs England 2nd Test starting from Friday.
