KL Rahul dropped as India vice captain: The Indian team management has taken a really huge decision as they have removed opening batsman KL Rahul from the vice-captaincy position in the India Test squad for the remaining two Test matches against Australia at home. Team India managed to defeat Australia by comprehensive margins in the opening two Test matches to take a 2-0 lead in the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2023 four-match Test series. The hosts have also managed to retain the Border Gavaskar Trophy for the fourth time in a row.

IND vs AUS: KL Rahul Dropped as India vice captain from Test squad. Who is India vice captain?

In his last 12 innings, India’s star batsman KL Rahul has managed to score just 198 runs and moreover, he has scored only 38 runs in the three innings played during these two Test matches against Australia at home. The national selectors recently announced a similar India Test squad for the remainder of two Test matches against Australia in this Border Gavaskar Trophy 2023 and Rahul has retained his place in the side despite his horrendous form with the bat. However, the team management has decided to take away his vice captaincy position in order to unburden him with the pressure.

KL Rahul had been serving as the vice-captain of the Indian cricket team under Rohit Sharma’s captaincy since early 2022. He also led the team in a few matches across all formats of the game in 2022. However, he lost his white-ball vice-captaincy to Hardik Pandya recently, which means that he is no longer a part of the leadership group of the Indian cricket team. To regain his position as the vice-captain, Rahul will have to perform well with the bat, especially in the Test format. The team has not formally announced a new vice-captain for the remaining of two Test matches, but Cheteshwar Pujara will take over the reins from captain Rohit Sharma if needed.
