New Zealand won the first match of the ODI series against Sri Lanka with an impressive display. However, many key players have departed to participate in IPL which gives Sri Lanka a chance to level the series in the third and final match scheduled to take place on Friday, March 31, at Seddon Park in Hamilton.
Sri Lanka bowlers were on the spot in 1st ODI. Chamika Karunaratne took four wickets, while Lahiru Kumara and Kasun Rajitha picked up two wickets each as they restricted the hosts to 274.
However, the visitors struggled to get going with the bat, with only three of their batters managing to score in double digits. The Dasun Shanaka-led side was particularly weak, as they failed to make an impact against New Zealand’s bowling attack.
Sri Lanka will need to put up a better performance in the final match to have a chance of winning.
