Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya has permanently shifted to the garden city of India, i.e., Bengaluru. The star all-rounder, who is currently nursing a quadriceps injury that led to his non-selection in the Indian team for the England tour, is aiming to make the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence (CoE) his permanent training home for the remainder of his cricketing career. The move was welcomed by a BCCI source, who quoted,
“Hardik has already permanently shifted to Bengaluru. He has rented a property on the outskirts of the city, close to the CoE. He will be the first Indian cricketer to make the CoE his permanent training base for the remainder of his career,” a BCCI source was quoted as saying by Business Standard.
The 32-year-old becomes the first influential current Indian cricketer to make such a move in a quest to prolong his crickeing career. Hardik has reportedly worn off courtesy of the daily commute from his Lower Parel residence in Mumbai to the training facility in Ghansoli.
“Hardik wanted to move out of Mumbai, as commuting every day from his Lower Parel residence for training had become a problem. As a centrally contracted cricketer, he has access to every facility at the CoE, from injury management to skills training. Hence, he took the decision to make the CoE his permanent base whenever he is not on IPL, state or national duty,” added by the source.
The Centre of Excellence (CoE), earlier known as the National Cricket Academy (NCA), is the BCCI’s premier high‑performance hub located in Bengaluru. Spread across 40 acres, the facility boasts three international‑standard grounds and 86 practice pitches, along with advanced sports science, biomechanics, medical, and rehabilitation support.
The CoE is India’s main base for player recovery, injury prevention, workload management, and elite skill development. It regularly hosts national training camps, coaching certification programs, and specialist sessions for both men’s and women’s cricket. To strengthen India’s talent pipeline, the BCCI has recently expanded the coaching setup by appointing specialist staff in batting, fast bowling, fielding, and performance analysis.
With a plethora of world-class coaches and training equipment, Hardik Pandya will be training with the best mentors who can help him recover from injuries, and he can train as much as he can with the best of the resources.
With Hardik Pandya shifting base to Bengaluru, this could well be an indication of him parting ways with the Mumbai Indians. Hardik’s previous training facility in Ghansoli, Mumbai, was owned by the Mumbai Indians franchise. A move to Bengaluru is potentially signalling Hardik’s 3-year association with 5-time champions as their skipper could be coming to an abrupt end.
After the conclusion of the Tata IPL 2026, a report from the Indian Express stated that MI is not keen to retain the all-rounder as their skipper for the next season. In fact, a source close to the team revealed that Hardik is done with the Mumbai Indians and isn’t in any mood to continue with the team in the future.
“Hardik was mentally stressed and completely exhausted. He had also sustained a back injury. In fact, once the play-off hopes were dashed, Hardik informed the decision-makers that he wouldn’t be staying back.”
Shifting his base to Bengaluru has reignited the speculations of a potential fallout between Hardik Pandya and the Mumbai Indians. For now, these claims remain rumors, but time will reveal the next chapter in the Hardik–Mumbai Indians saga.
