The International Cricket Council (ICC) has officially revealed the venue for the grand finale of the World Test Championship 2027 final (WTC 2027 Final). The historic Kennington Oval ground in London has been confirmed as the official venue for the 2027 ICC World Test Championship (WTC) Final.
Scheduled to take place from June 9 to June 13, 2027, the marquee encounter will mark the culmination of the 2025–2027 WTC cycle. This decision comes after the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) was granted the hosting rights for three consecutive WTC finals—covering the 2027, 2029, and 2031 editions, with the responsibility of allocating the stadium for each showpiece clash.

This announcement marks the second time that The Oval will stage the World Test Championship final. The iconic venue previously hosted the 2023 WTC Final, where Australia produced a magnificent display to defeat India and claim their maiden Test mace.
The choice of venue holds deep historic charm, especially as 2027 coincides with 150 years of official Test cricket. The pitch at The Oval is renowned globally for providing a balanced contest between bat and ball, offering bounce and pace early on before aiding slow bowlers as the match progresses into the final days.
Neil Snowball, the Managing Director of Competitions and Major Events at the ECB, expressed immense pride in securing the high-stakes match once again:
“We are honoured to be staging the next three ICC World Test Championship Finals in England and Wales, and we’re pleased to confirm that The Oval will play host again next year. The 2023 final at The Oval was a huge hit with broadcasters and fans, and I’ve no doubt that next year’s event will be extra special again.”
With the venue locked in, the battle among the nine competing nations to secure a top-two finish on the league table is heating up. Current table-toppers Australia sit comfortably in pole position with an impressive points percentage (PCT) of 87.50%, having won seven out of their eight Test matches in this cycle.
Defending champions South Africa occupy the second spot with a 75% PCT, closely followed by New Zealand at 72.22%. Meanwhile, Bangladesh have emerged as dark horses, climbing to fourth place following a memorable series sweep over Pakistan.
Two-time finalists, India find themselves in fifth place with a PCT of 48.15%, keeping them firmly in the hunt but leaving little room for error in their upcoming series against Sri Lanka, Australia, and South Africa. Sri Lanka (41.67%), England (24.36%), West Indies (15%), and Pakistan (8.33%) round out the bottom half of the table and will need extraordinary winning streaks to force their way into contention.
Penalty: Deductions are applied for slow over-rates (1 point deducted per slow over).
As the 2025–2027 cycle approaches its crucial second half, every upcoming Test series carries massive strategic value. With points for wins, ties, and draws directly dictating qualification, teams will be pushing for outright results rather than settling for conservative draws.
